|
|
Its getting real hard to find a older pond that has been left to nature.
I found one every day when I was 15. Yea it was the same pond, but yet it had so much.
Carp fishing was real cool. We would take are Zepco reals and over load-em with 12 lb test.
Then we would find the smallest hook and wrap it with bread we had stolen from Mom's table. Squish it tight- real tight around that hook. Then caster er out to a few feet past the lilies.
Now was the the wait and success.
For the longer the bait was in the water the greater the chance you wer'nt gonna catch nothing. Because the bread would get water logged and peal away from the hook.
Man .... This fishing for Old pond carp wasnt easy.
Well after many weeks and umpteen times of bread sqwezzen around a hook that fish fly hooks were mother..
Finally surface tension was slowly broken by a down surge of water of wetted bread. HEEEE YAA WOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fish is on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now so was the fight. Man ....Dam......Oh Yea!!!!
My zepco tension would not let me wind.
I waited..............Real ed ..........Wailed realed.
Finnaly I landed a 22 lb carp that I did let go back into the pond.
That old pond is now gone. The trees were removed and it silted up. But she still the same in the memories of my heart after 35 years of reflection. |

I've always loved a good Carp sandwich! Yummy
An easier way would have you hitting moms pantry for a can of whole corn, sprinkle about 3/4th of the can in the water where you were going to fish, come back in a couple hours and bait your hook with some of the remaining corn and cast in that area, you might get tired of reeling them in....Works good on rainbow trout in some of the lakes that stock them....Myself I preferred getting some worms or spinners and going after bluegills and smallmouth/largemouth, which most every decent pond has........ |
