Can someone please tell me what is the best fishing line to use on a spinning reel with a six foot rod. I mainly fish for Blues with a simple mono 12 pound test line and a Gotcha tied on with a Berkley knot !
I'm not happy with the distance I'm getting and sometimes the Gotcha snaps right off the line during a cast !!
thanks _________________ OBX= Fun,Sun, Beer, Fish, GREAT FOOD,........ More Beer and Fish !!!! |

you could go with a little longer rod but 6 foot will work. they just came out with this new kind of braid call fireline crystal. i hate braid but deicided to try this out. i got 14 pound which has a six pound diameter and then tie some shock leader on with an albright. this knot is not reccomended for mono to braid but i have not had a problem with it. with this line you will be casting much farther than others and will never snap off a gotcha. _________________ Brandon |

You can try Berkley Big Game in the green color. It comes in spools of 1175 yds. Walmart sales it for like 6-8 bucks. use the line in 12 # test. Tie in a 12-18 inch 25-30lb leader with a blood knot and tie on your gotcha with a loop knot. Good luck and always good fishing ! _________________ Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day .....Teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time..........If he has the right bait.......like a Gotcha Lure.... |

I use nothing less that 20 lb test when fishing in the ocean. Pier, surf, whatever....
I am also looking for a lightweight casting rod to throw some gotchas with. |
